Research Description:
Our Hospital research team and University lab do basic, translational and clinical research on the role of the alveolar epithelium in the pathogenesis and resolution of acute lung injury and ARDS. Current projects include studies of the effects of volatile and other anesthetics in ARDS, investigation of the role of the receptor for advanced glycation end-products (RAGE) pathway and of the alveolar epithelium in the pathogenesis and resolution of acute lung injury, and translational studies of biomarkers for diagnosis and prognosis in acute lung injury.
